All Carbon Fiber tubing is not the same. Not even close. These ultra stiff carbon fiber tubes are engineered by LIJIN to minimize linear flex while maintaining the lightest possible overall weight. Our design includes designating the length of fiber, resin specifications, fiber direction per layer (up to 15 layers) and fiber source. We test every tube with our custom designed straightness testing station. Using a high precision dial indicator and a fully automated rotary jig, we guarantee this tubes are perfectly straight.
This beautiful carbon fiber tubing is fabricated from unidirectional carbon fiber with a twill outer layer. The unidirectional layers are oriented to provide high bending stiffness and axial strength. The woven twill outer layer provides a bias support layer in addition to an attractive appearance. This product is ideal for building lightweight frames and structures, tubular vessels, poles, column supports, and any other application where low weight and high stiffness are essential and appearance is also important.
Fabricated from prepreg fabrics and cello wrapped for a gloss finish. Longer length tubes have options for outer layer and high modulus unidirectional fabrics.
LIJIN roll wrapped twill carbon fiber tubes are fabricated from a combination of unidirectional and woven twill prepreg material and cello wrapped for a gloss finish. The unidirectional layers are oriented to provide high bending stiffness and axial strength. The inner and outer layers provide a bias support in addition to an attractive appearance. This product is ideal for building telescopes, tubular vessels, column supports, and any other application where low weight and high stiffness are essential, yet appearance is also important.
Two different unidirectional CF options are available in this tube: 33 msi standard modulus and 110 msi ultra high modulus (UHM) Pitch carbon fiber. The benefit of pitch carbon fiber is higher stiffness, higher thermal conductivity, and lower thermal expansion (CTE nearly zero). Depending on the application, both are excellent options. For example, if the part requires maximum strength, then the standard modulus material would be the best choice. If, however, the loads are low, for example in many automation and robotics applications, the ultra high modulus Pitch fiber can substantially increase the stiffness of a part.

Carbon Fiber Tubes FAQ
1. How is the diameter of your tubes measured?
Except for pultruded tubes (diameter measured from outside), all DragonPlate tube diameters are measured from the inside of the tube (ID). To determine the approximate outside diameter, add 2x the wall thickness to the ID measurement.
2. What finish options do you offer for your tubes?
Finish options include gloss, natural, textured, and tooled, depending on tube type. Please see each tube type for finish options. We also offer a sanded finish upon request. Contact us for more details.
3. How do you recommend cutting DragonPlate carbon fiber tubes? Is there any safety gear that I should use?
DragonPlate carbon fiber tubes are pre-cut to the specified lengths or slightly oversized. The tubes are easily cut to length using a bandsaw, coping saw, or Dremel tool. Recommended precautions include wearing safety glasses, a dust respirator, and protective clothing when cutting, sanding or drilling, to limit exposure to the dust, which is an irritant.
