Production Process of Carbon Fiber Sheets and Plates

 

1. Raw Material Preparation: Prepreg Preparation: Use high-quality prepreg (carbon fiber fabric impregnated with epoxy resin) to ensure uniform resin content and carbon fiber alignment.

 

2. Cutting the Prepreg: Cutting: Cut the prepreg to the required size and shape according to the design specifications. Ensure clean edges during cutting to maintain accuracy in the subsequent lamination process.

 

3. Lamination: Laminating: Stack the cut prepreg layers according to the desired thickness and strength. Each layer of prepreg should be arranged in a specific direction to achieve optimal mechanical properties.

 

4. Placing in the Mold: Mold Preparation: Select an appropriate mold and place the stacked prepreg into the mold, ensuring the prepreg is flat and wrinkle-free. The mold surface should be treated with a release agent to facilitate demolding.

 

5. Vacuum Bagging: Bagging: Use a vacuum bag to seal the mold and prepreg, ensuring a good seal. The purpose of vacuum bagging is to remove air and prevent the formation of bubbles and voids during the autoclave process.

 

6. Autoclave Curing

  • Curing: Place the sealed mold into the autoclave, setting the appropriate temperature, pressure, and time for curing. The typical curing temperature ranges from 120-180°C, with a pressure of 5-7 bar. The specific parameters are adjusted according to the properties of the prepreg and product requirements.
  • Solidification: During the autoclave process, the resin in the prepreg will flow and cure, forming a solid and robust carbon fiber board structure.

7. Demolding

  • Cooling: After curing, allow the mold and carbon fiber board to cool naturally to room temperature.
  • Demolding: Carefully remove the carbon fiber board from the mold, ensuring no damage to the surface.

8. Post-Processing

  • Trimming: Use cutting equipment to trim the edges of the carbon fiber board to achieve the final dimensions and shape.
  • Surface Treatment: Perform surface treatments (such as sanding or coating) to achieve a smooth or matte finish as per customer requirements.
