Product Description
Pultrusion Carbon Fiber Tube, ext. ∅ 25 mm, int. ∅ 23 mm, 1 mm thickness (1000 mm length)
Pultruded tubes are made by pulling continuous strands of carbon fiber through a ‘die’; as they are pulled through they are coated in epoxy resin and as they come out of the die the epoxy resin is cured at high speed. Tubes (or rods, or strips) made in this way have all of their fiber running length-ways down the tube which means that they are very strong along their length (very stiff if you try to bend them) with less stiffness in the other direction.
Pultruded carbon tubes are created by pulling linearly oriented carbon fibers through a resin bath and then a series of tooling to create the specified inner and outer diameters of the tube. The carbon tube is then heated to cure it. Carbon tubes are especially stiff longitudinally, due to the unidirectional orientation of the fibers.
Round carbon fibre tubes are manufactured by using the pultrusion technique in which the high-performance carbon fibres are all orientated parallel to the longitudinal axis (unidirectional) and internally reinforced with more unidirectional carbon fibres laminated by using pull-wingding technology to achieve greater resistance to bending and torsion.
Diameter: 25 mm, int. 23 mm
Length: 1000 mm (1m)
Thickness: 1 mm
This type of profile has high specific mechanical resistance (related to its weight), lightness, rigidity, great resistance to fatigue and vibrations, resistance to oxidation and corrosion, low coefficient of thermal expansion, and durability.
Pultrusion is a technique of continuous production of linear profiles with a constant section. This process has many similarities to extrusion, the main difference is in the feeding system: in extrusion, the material is pushed through the matrix (mold), and in pultrusion, it is extracted from the matrix. This procedure does not allow variations in shape, sections, or curves. Products that can be obtained by this process can have sections or thicknesses of up to approximately 15mm, with epoxy resins and up to 70mm with polyester resins.
Products made with this technology have excellent tensile strength characteristics due to the linear orientation of the fibers in the direction of the axis of the profile; if it is also necessary to have a good transversal resistance, a woven fabric is used as a backing in specific quantities and weights.
